This fixture was mounted on the cross slide of a Taig miniature lathe. The grinding wheel was mounted behind the fixture so the cross slide could be used to advance the worm blank into the grinder, determining the depth of cut.

The grinding should be done as close as possible to the inside of the left arm of the fixture to prevent runout of the bolt from being transferred to the worm. As the bolt advances, the worm blank slides into the bronze bushing keeping the setup somewhat rigid.
