Hind Ocarina Fingering Charts

Along with the tone and size of your new ocarina, you should also consider the type of fingering system you want it to have. The B-flat Alto, Tenor, and Bass ocarinas have the simplest fingering, because the fingers are lifted one at a time, in order, to play the scale. This system is very similar to the clarinet, flute and saxophone. This system is more intuitive, and it is easier to memorize the scale on such an instrument.

The Junior, G & D-Sopranos, and C-Alto are not hard to play; but it takes a little longer to memorize the notes, because the scale is played by opening and closing combinations of holes in a seemingly random order. This system is rather ingenious, because it allows the entire scale to be played with only four finger holes. You can see both fingering systems by clicking on the links to the right. As always, if you have any questions feel free to call or write.
